Dorothy Jacobson, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Holthe) Ries was born on July 1, 1939 at Watertown, South Dakota. She attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Watertown High School in 1957. On May 30, 1959 she married David S. Jacobson at Watertown, SD. The couple moved to Pipestone, MN for a short time before returning to Watertown. Dorothy was employed by Pathology Laboratories in Watertown from 1966-1981. She was then employed as a medical transcriptionist for Prairie Lakes Hospital from 1981 to the present time. David Jacobson passed away on May 20, 1989.
Dorothy was an avid reader and was a fan of the Watertown Arrows and the Minnesota Vikings. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, and her dogs, Jake and Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Jim; and one sister, Jackie.
She is survived by three sons, Christopher (Pam) Jacobson of Watertown, Rick D. (Kelley) Jacobson of Portsmouth, VA, and Timothy (Trish) Jacobson of Rochester, MN; one daughter, Renae (Mark) Jacobsen of Badger, SD; two brothers, Don (Shirley) Ries of Hastings, MN, and Bill (Jan) Ries of Bellflower, CA; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Watertown, SD.
Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Prairie Lakes Hospital, the WHS Class of 1957, and the Arrow football coaches and teams.
Active Pallbearers will be David Jacobson, Jason Jacobson, Jordan Jacobsen, Tanner Jacobsen, Mike Chlopkowiak, and Joe Ries.
