She was born to Samuel W. and Hilda F. Stull. She married Walter Proffitt, who is deceased.

Survivors are three daughters, Mary (Robert) Hayes, LaGrange, Ind., Jane (Mark) McMullin, Moores Hill, Ind., and Sheila (Greg) Smith, Campbellsville, Ky.; a brother, Russell (Virginia) Stull, Hamilton; three sisters, Dorothy Lindsey, Fairfield, Barbara Lindsey, Franklin, and Gloria Ann (Ray) Ruble, Dothan, Ala.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a licensed practical nurse and nursing home administrator retiring after more than 40 years of service. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1577, Camden; American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Post 122, Liberty, Ind.; Golden Needles and Red Hatters.

A daughter, Nancy Montgomery-Jefferies is deceased.

Services were at Dalton Funeral Home, Germantown, the Rev. Jesse Thornton officiating.
