David Shayne Wear was born at the Old Santarium on Buffalo Road in Lawrenceburg, Lawrence Co., Tennessee, the son of Horace Edward Wear and his wife, Frances Gail McCracken. He was named Shayne after Dr. Shayne Sutherland, who delivered him, and David after his great-uncle, David Fetzer.
Shaynie was the maternal grandson of Luther Blount McCracken and Anna Margaret Bailey McCracken Wright and the paternal grandson of Claude and Nellie Huepel Wear.
When he was three, Shayne drowned in a canal located at the back of his home in New Jersey. His body was later transported to Florence, Alabama where it lay in state at the home of his paternal grandmother, Nellie Wear. The funeral was conducted at the Mt. Zion Church of Christ in St. Florian, Alabama with the burial taking place in the Cedar Hill Cemetery located near the small town of Pleasant Point in Lawrence Co., Tennessee.
Shayne lies at rest beside his maternal grandmother with his great-grandparents, great-great-grandparents and great-great-great grandparents nearby.
