Notes From Valders:
Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21, 1911 about 5:10 p.m. Gilbert Windingstad quietly passed away from this world of sorrow and care to the one of peace and rest.

Mr. Windingstad was born Sept. 27, 1818 in Valders, Norway. He left his home in Norway at the age of 28 and came to Manitowoc county, then a wilderness, where he has since resided. He was one of the old pioneers who struggled with the many hardships of the early days of Manitowoc county. Those who knew him were his friends.

He leaves behind to mourn his death six children: Ole Windingstad of Valders, Wells of Chicago, Otto of Sheboygan, Mrs. C. Norman and Mrs. A. Peterson of Chicago, Mrs. Hanson of Sheboygan, eighteen grand children and three great grand children. His wife died 10 years ago.

The funeral was held from Valders church, Rev. A. O. Alfson officiating.
