Sylvia Marie Olson was born on March 21, 1923 and was the second daughter of the late Olaf and Lily (Throne) Olson. Sylvia married Orin Gilbertson on June 28, 1941. they farmed in the town of Rantoul and raised a family there. She taught Sunday School as a young lady. Sylvia did love to travel, she went to Europe several times, especially Norway to visit with relatives whom she kept in touch through the years. She traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada. Sylvia also liked to write short stories some of which were published. She was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, a past quilter in the Ladies Aid and was also an Auxiliary member of the American Legion.
