Mrs. Johnston, nee Ruth Elaine Larson was born November 29, 1924, at Valders, daughter of the late John Albert and Mrs Milsred Berge Larson. She attended schools at Valders, graduating from Valders High School, Class of 1942. Following her graduation, she worked a short time at the J. J. Stangel Hardware Co. and then she had been employed by the Dr. Gregory and Dr. Simonsen Clinic. In 1946, she was employed by the local American Red Cross, May 1, 1954, she was appointed executive secretary of the Red Cross.
