Stevens, Hilda Seeton - 96, Truro passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 6, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Belmont, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Minerva (Crowe) Roode. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Hilda graduated from the Provincial Normal College in 1931 and taught school throughout Colchester County. Brunswick Street United Church was one of her greatest enjoyments and she was a lifetime member of the UCW. She taught Explorers for a number of years. Hilda was famous for her crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the ’45 Card Club for over 60 years made up initially of railroad wives. Her door was always open to family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by daughters, Eloise (Herman) Murphy, Fredericton, NB, Carol (Bruce) Wynn, Debert; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; daughter, Judy Bonnyman; son-in-law, Bud Hudson; sisters, Myrtle Gazeley, Hazel Clarke, Erma Culgin, Jeanette Davison, Agnes Carruthers; brothers, Clarence, Arnold, Perley and Albert in infancy. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9th from 1-2 pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. David Lutes officiating. Interment in Belmont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.
