Virginia was born May 7, 1928 in Northwood, Iowa to Robert and Clara (Brudvik) Hove. She graduated from Northwood High School in 1946. Virginia married Bruce Turvold on September 4, 1948 in Northwood. She worked as a bookkeeper in the family owned business, the Times Plain Dealer for 23 years. Virginia was a long time member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 9 years and served on the church council for 2 terms. Virginia was an avid bridge player, she enjoyed knitting, traveling abroad, dogs and was always available to watch someone’s dog.
Virginia is survived by three children: Phillip (Marsha) Turvold of Rochester, MN, James (Diane) Turvold of Cresco, IA, David (Janel) Turvold of Lourdes, IA; five grandchildren: Christina (Mario) Vasquez, Kari Turvold (and Aaron Curti), Steven (Julie) Turvold, Amanda Turvold, and Kristi (Chris) Schwartzhoff; six great-grandchildren: Margaret Vasquez, Daniel Vasquez, Macalester Turvold, Garrison Turvold, Kirsten Turvold and Kaylee Schwartzhoff; and one sister, Marvyl Carlson of Minneapolis, MN. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce in 1989; seven brothers: Orville, Richard, Carl, Elert, Alfred, Morris and her twin brother, Virgil; and a sister, Rose Johnson.
