M.E. Bathrick
dies after long illness
Merritt E. Bathrick, 70, Pine Haven Mobile Home Park, Oswego Road, a former employe of Revere s Rome Division and a retiree of the John Hancock Insurance Co., died today at Rome Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Bathrick Worked at Revere for 24 years and in 1940 left there to join the insurance company. He retired in 1964 after 23 years of service there. He was born Aug. 6, 1902 in Rome, a son of Merritt H. and Alice Ernst Bathrick. On Sept. 18, 1939 he married Iva M. Steele at the home of his parents with the late Rev. David M. Boswell officiating.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Baron Steuben Lodge, F&AM, Lee Center. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Merritt C. Bathrick of Rome and Randall K. Bathrick at home, and three brothers, John Bathrick of Utica, Donald Bathrick of Rome and LeRoy Bathrick of Wisconsin. Two other brothers died; Lyle B. Bathrick in 1967, and Milton Bathrick in 1957. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Prince and Boyd Home for Funerals. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. John A. O'Connor, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating
