Eliza Belle Baskette, 93, of Chattanooga, died at the home of her daughter in Birmingham, AL on January 6, 2006.
Mrs. Baskette was born to John F. Simpson and Mattie Gregg Simpson on July 23, 1912. She was a sister to Clyde, Mae, Pearl, Johnnie, Katherine, Eula Bell, Nell, and OC.
Mrs. Baskette owned and operated Baskette’s Beauty Shoppe in East Lake for forty years, and she attended East Lake Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde R. Baskette, parents, brother, and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty B. Metcalf; four grandchildren, Joe (Kelly) Metcalf, Randy (Holly) Metcalf, Karla (Sam) Schiffman, and Bill (Jan) Metcalf; six great grandchildren, Randi, Sammy, Brett, Andrew, Chris, and Pat; one especially close nephew, Charles (Kate) Mangum; four sisters, Pearl Rhinehart, Katherine Smith, Nell Skelton, and OC (Kenneth) Reed; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Kindred Care Hospice for the care they rendered to them.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Burial will be in the Lakewood Memory Gardens South Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
