Bernard Griesedieck - 1927-2016

Bernard H. "Barney" Griesedieck

Only eight days after the passing of their beloved mother, Earline Griesedieck, the Griesedieck family now mourns the passing of their Patriarch and loving husband of Earline for nearly 60 years, Bernard "Barney " Griesedieck. Barney was born in St Louis, Missouri in 1927, the third of four children of Bernard Henry Griesedieck Sr. and Evelyn Ziebold Griesedieck. After graduating with honors in Geophysics at St. Louis University, Barney's work quickly took him to Houston where he met the love of his life, Earline at a Catholic singles group. Marriage and children soon followed. After a 35-year career in the oil and gas Industry, Barney retired from Tenneco Oil Company in 1986 as Chief Geophysicist and spent the remainder of his life in the Spring Area. Barney is survived by his children George Griesedieck, Heidi Griesedieck Boone, Theresa Griesedieck Hainline, and Paul Griesedieck plus seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren all of which live in the Houston Area.
Barney was a tennis, volleyball, golf, and bridge aficionado and a devout Roman Catholic, active in their church. Barney was the consummate gentleman and always held any door open for our mother to go through ahead of him, even through the heavenly gates.
The funeral mass will be held January 8 at 12:00 noon at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Spring. Immediately prior to the mass and at the same location, a visitation will be held starting at 10:30 AM with a Rosary to be said at 11:30 AM.
