Lonnie A. “Papa” Westberry, 85, of Palatka went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness.

Mr. Westberry was born on August 27, 1927 in Jennings, Florida. He served in the Florida National Guard. After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Mary Christine Pittman, they settled down in Palatka 65 years ago, coming from Jennings, and started their family. He was employed for ten years with Hudson Pulp and Paper before accepting a position with the State of Florida DOT where he worked for thirty years before retiring. Mr. Westberry was a member of the Grace Community Baptist Church in Palatka. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He loved spending time with his family, always asking where everyone was and how they were doing. His family was very important to him, right after his love for his Lord and Savior. “Papa”loved spending time reading and listening to God’s Word being taught. If you visited him late in the evening, you would find him reading his Bible or watching old John Wayne films.

Mr. Westberry was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Pearlie Jackson Westberry; three brothers, Roscoe, Quincy and Russell Westberry; two sisters, Della Whitaker and Virginia Beck; a grandson, Stephen Heisler and a great granddaughter, Madelynn Plante.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years, Mary Christine Westberry of Palatka; two sons and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Pat Westberry of Interlachen and Rodger Westberry of Palatka; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Harris and Karen and Todd Adams all of Palatka; one sister, Kathleen Nash of Valdosta, Georgia; six grandchildren and spouses, Christopher Heisler, Kevin Westberry, Sarah and Robert Plante, Tolbert Adams, Jr. and wife, Sharai, Renee and Stephen Corp and Lindsay and Zach Swayze; and six great grandchildren, Colton and Caden Heisler, Tyler and Alyssa Plante, J. T. Adams and Kamden Swayze.

We love and miss you Papa but rest in the fact that you are with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Grace Community Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Combs officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinelawn Cemetery in Mannville.
