First Sergeant Milford F. "Mike" Campbell, U.S. Army (RET.), 61, of Interlachen passed away at his residence on Monday, April 9, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and had been a resident of Interlachen for the past 22 years coming from Ft. Carson, Colorado.
He was a 1969 graduate of the Union County High School in Lake Butler. In 1990 he retired from the United States Army as a First Sergeant after 21 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also retired from Publix Supermarkets in Palatka and Ocala where he worked as the Assistant Produce Manager. He volunteered at the Pinelawn Cemetery in Mannville. His life revolved around his family and he will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milford K. Campbell and Mary Campbell Headley; one nephew, Michael Campbell; and one brother-in-law, Ray Beckham.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Beth Campbell of Interlachen; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Milford and Jill House Campbell of Seattle, WA, and Paul Daniel and Jean-Marie Olsen Campbell of Duvall, WA; a close family friend whom he thought of as a daughter, Heather Young of Miramar, FL; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Campbell of Palatka and Tim and Vanessa Campbell of Interlachen; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Vernon Rhoden of Palatka, Margie and Tommy Whitaker of Interlachen, Kathy Beckham of Johnson, Vickie and Earl Queen of St. Augustine, and Debbie and Bobby Bagley of Interlachen; one granddaughter, Audrey Kathleen Campbell of Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services with full military honors bestowed by the United States Army will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Woodlawn Baptist Church in Johnson with Dr. L.D. Osteen officiating.
