James Loyd Hurt, 74, of Monumental passed away Wednesday January 6, 2015 at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1941 in Grant Town, WV, son of the late John Howard Hurt and Virginia Dare Sharp Hurt.
He resided in Germany for 15 years and Retired as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army, after 25 years of service.
James is survived by three sisters, Helen Grubb of Monumental, Mary Janet Kennedy of Monumental, Thelma Wolfe and husband Ronald of Loveland, OH; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Hurt, Jr.; and a sister, Frances McKinney.
