Glenn E. "Cubby" Benigni, 88 of Apple Street, Weedville died suddenly at the Elk regional Health Center late Sunday, April 20. He was born on January 2, 1920 in Brockway. He was the son of Gelindo and Julia (Castina) Benigni. He married on May 6, 1943 to Elda (Chiappelli) who survives in Weedville.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Thomas (Pamela) Pauline of Kersey, Robert (Sharen) Marshall of Kersey, Anthony (Maureen) Vigilone of Treasure lake, and Michael (Deborah) Dillon of Altoona; seven grandchildren, Corey Pauline, Kristin Kinsey, Nichole Williams, Tricia Brigger, Garre Vigilone, Ashley and Sean Dillon; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased in death by his parents; two brothers, Gelindo and Glenn in infancy; one granddaughter, Erika Heigel; one sonin-law Bruce Heigel. Also survives is sister, Florence Steis of Miamisburg, Ohio.

He was a graduate of the Horton Township High School. He was in the Army, a Corporal of WWII, and the European Theater including Anzio and most of Italy in the 86th Mountain Infantry Division.

He worked at Speer Carbon for 37 years retiring in 1985. He continued employment with PC Systems in Ridgway until his second retirement in January 2007. Also a past owner/operator of the Valley Cave for seven years starting in 1968.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was active in sports in his youth including Baseball and Basketball. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins Fan. He was a member of Bennett's Valley American Legion. He truly loved and lived for his family.

He was born and raised in Brockway, but lived in Penfield after returning from the War. He has resided in Weedville since 1955.
