His many works include, "Alchemy", "Sofala", "The Soup Kitchen", "Woman In Bath", "Woman In Bath II", "First Sensation of New York City", "Head of Christie", "Untitled Red Painting", "The Jacaranda Tree", "The Pond At Bundanon", "The South Coast After Rain", and "Self Portrait In The Studio", among several others. His art has won several awards and has been on display in art galleries worldwide. His home in Sydney, Australia, contains the Brent Whiteley Studios. In 1989, he was the subject of the ABC television documentary, "Difficult Pleasure", directed by Don Featherstone. The father of actress Arkie Whiteley, his later life was troubled by alcohol, bouts of depression, schizophrenia, and a heroin addiction. On June 15, 1992, at the age of 53, he passed away in a motel room in Thirrol, New South Wales, from a heroin overdose.
