Julia I. Huston, 93, formerly of Brackenridge, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg, where she was a resident. She was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Natrona, a daughter of the late Augustus "Gus" Acre and R. Hilda Orris Venatta Acre. She was the widow of William Huston, who died Dec. 8, 1989. She lived in Brackenridge until 1994, before residing in Saxonburg. A 1940 graduate of Har-Brack, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church, Cabot, and former member of Brackenridge United Methodist Church, Brackenridge. She was a volunteer for Highlands Area Meals on Wheels, volunteer for Outlook Point Nursing Home in Saxonburg and member of Eastern Star Tarentum. She quilted for Cabot United Methodist Church and for Faith Lutheran Quilt group. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Huston, of Pickerington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Dave (Tammy) Huston and Peggy (Doug) McMillin; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Huston Sr., on Oct. 17, 2003; two brothers, Howard Acre and Verle Venatta; and two sisters, Ellen Humes McCain and Iva Cummings.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME INC., where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, with the Rev. Jason McQueen, her pastor, officiating. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
