John Robert Nixon

John Robert Nixon, 91, of Route 2, Dawson Springs, died January 5, at 10:20 am at Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 20, 1897 in Christian County. He was a retired coal miner and a farmer. He was a member of the Star of Bethlehem Pentecostal Church. He was the son of the late John and Mollie Blackburn Nixon.

He was preceded in death by three children, Johnny B. Nixon, Mary Sue Nixon and Mack Nixon.

He is survived by his wife, Esmer Messimore Nixon of Dawson Springs; one sister, Thelma Wood of Princeton; two daughters, Rachel Johnson of Gracey and Fleda Bozell of Hopkinsville; one son, Clayburn Nixon of Hopkinsville; 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one step-son, Lawrence Carroll of Dawson Springs; two step-daughters, Katherine Williams of Utah and Mary Rose Franklin of Providence.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday at Beshear Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Darnell officiating. Burial will be in Ilsley Cemetery in Ilsley.
