Manifests for Ester Flemström revealed that on Sept. 7, 1922 Esther boarded the S.S. Drottningholm, that was docked at the seaport city of Gothenburg, to make the long Voyage to New York. She arrived at New York on Sept. 16, 1922. Her final destination to be Omaha, Nebraska. Her occupation was a House Keeper. There are no references to anyone greeting her when she arrives in Omaha.

About 4 years after arriving in the United States, beautiful Esther became the bride of handsome George Horace Woodard. Their Livingston Co. Michigan Certificate of Marriage confirms that Esther was a laundry employee and a resident of Scotch Bluff, Nebraska and George's occupation was farming, his residents was Fowlerville, Michigan. Their ceremony was witnessed by Arthur N, Roosa and Nina E, Roosa of Perry, Mich., and solemnized by Rev. R.C. Brown Baptist Minister on May 30, 1926 probably at the Baptist Church, in the city of Perry, Shiawassee Co., Michigan.

This was in the heart of the Great Depression, and 75 cents to a dollar a day was the rate of pay. George's widowed mother Sara E Woodard age 50 was living with them. Little Merle was a toddler and Mary was a baby.

It was determined by Mary Lue and June Marilyn's birth days
that between the summer of 1929 and 1931 Esther and George moved from New Hudson, Oakland County, Michigan to Morrill, Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska.

The 1940 census proved that the family was living better. Their home was valued at $2000.00 located in Winters Creek, Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. Four of the children were attending school, and little Edward was a toddler.
