Donald E. Aarnink, 62, of Terre Haute, died at 330 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, in his residence. He had worked for 19 years at Hercules and then 10 years at Hedwin in LaPorte, where he then retired. He was born on Jan. 18, 1946, in Terre Haute, to Donald F. Aarnink and Frances Virginia (Miller) Aarnink.
Survivors include two sons, Eric W. Aarnink (Cindy) of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Derrick M. Turner (James) of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren, Cole Aarnink, Tylor Aarnink, Garret Aarnink, Alexus Aarnink, Amber Aarnink, Derick Aarnink (Jennifer), Ty Wade Turner, Carter Turner and Kaylin Turner, a great-grandson, Jordan Aarnink and a cousin, Judy Sheperd Clayton of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and after his discharge, he was in the Air National Guard for 38 years with 181st tactical fighter wing. He was an avid NASCAR, dirt and oval truck race fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85E. Springhill Drive, with Pastor Chris Gregg officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
