Born December 8, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was a son of the late William and Helen Boyle.
He was a graduate of Syracuse University, and graduated from Syracuse University Medical School in December of 1943.
Dr. Boyle was a general practitioner of medicine for 30 years in Upper Arlington, Ohio, and a former medical controller of tuberculosis for Franklin County, Ohio.
He was a former adjunct professor of medicine at Ohio State University College of Medicine.
A World War II veteran, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.
He was a member of St. Agatha Parish in Columbus, Ohio, for more than 50 years, a former president of St. Agatha Men’s Club, and a former team doctor for athletic teams at Bishop Watterson and St. Charles high schools in Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ann Battersby Boyle; brother William Boyle; sister Loretta Rodda.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Joe and Judy Boyle and their children, Katie (Les) Cyrus, Emily (Kevin) Di Frango, Jennifer (Jeff) Longstreth, and Michelle (David) Toth; Daniel and Kim Boyle and their children, Daniel Jr. (Stacey), Christopher, Erin (Chris) Steele, and Courtney; Thomas and Susie Boyle and their children, Kerry (Miranda), Trevor, Cory, and Patrick; Dr. John and Mary Boyle and their children, Brian (Sara), Brendan (Cara) and Beth; William and Sheila Boyle and their children, Keely (Anthony) Huey, Shaun, Kathleen, and Casey; Joanne and John Bills and their children, Ann (Fred) Crumb, Joseph (Abby), Frederick and John (Maura); and Frederick and Theresa Boyle and their children, Andrew (Melanie), Caitlin, and Connor; sisters-in-law Sr. Agnes Catherine Battersby, of Rochester, N.Y., Therese Bower, of Buffalo, N.Y., and Mary Battersby, of Elmira, N.Y.; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Agatha Church, 1860 Northam Road, Columbus, Ohio. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Funeral Home, 405 E. Town St., Columbus, with prayers offered at 4 p.m. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, Ohio.
