Opal Lorraine Davis, 91, of Columbia passed away peacefully, Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at The Bluffs.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Parker Funeral Service, with visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.

Opal was born July 20, 1924, in Millersburg to John Milton and Dixie Forsee Vaughn.

On Sept. 14, 1954, Opal married Raymond, the love of her life, and as she told you often “the best husband a woman could ever wish for.” Raymond preceded her in death.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and spent many years helping out with Sunday school each Sunday.

Opal loved children, and even though she and Raymond never had any children of their own, they were loved by many children. Aunt Opal never tired of the children who would gather at her house in Stephens to play or who “needed” a glass of Kool-Aid or a cookie.

Opal spent the past few years at Candlelight Lodge. They took wonderful care of her, and she made many new friends, though her heart never healed from the loss of her Raymond.

Survivors include: a sister, Velma Vemer of Columbia; nieces, Vicky Paulenko and husband Michael and Natasha Angell and husband Chuck, all of Columbia; nephew, Rusty Shay and wife Robin of Columbia; and numerous great-nieces and great–nephews and great-great-nieces and a great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; and sister, Dorothy Sublett.

Expressions of grief and sympathy may be left for the family at www.parkerfuneralservice.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to First Assembly of God Church, 1100 N. Seventh St., Columbia, Mo.
