Funeral rites for Walter W. Purvis (1878-1964), 86, retired farmer and civic leader of Moultrie, Ga., were held Monday afternoon at the Henderson Funeral Home, Moultrie. His daughter, Mrs. W. C. Hiers, Palatka, attended the service and burial which was in Sardis Cemetery.
Mr. Purvis died Saturday morning after a long illness.
All of his four sons and six daughters attended the services.
Survivors in addition to Mrs. Hiers are his wife, Mrs. Hattie Bell Mae Purvis; sons, Woodrow of Ellington, Ga., Roscoe of Moultrie, Walter Lee of Orlando and Hoyt of Charleston, S.C.; daughters, Mrs. Sandy Furridano of Sandusky, Ohio, Mrs. Victoria Herring, Mrs. Lloyd Allen of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. R. W. de Kolands, Ponce de Leon Springs and Mrs. C. W. Dawkins of Columbia, S.C.; four sisters, 30 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
