SARAH F. FARR, the subject of this sketch, was born in Preble County, Ohio, on the 22nd of August 1825. She was the daughter of Jacob and M.A. Cory, who, after her birth moved to Fayette County, Ind., about three miles north of Connersville, on the old Milton road, in the vicinity of which Mrs. Farr received her early education. She was married, October 21, 1859 to Matthias W. Farr, a native of Pennsylvania, born in that state August 11, 1817. His family moved westward at an early day, and settled in Wabash County in the year 1835. Mr. and Mrs. Farr had born unto them the following children: Mary A., born November 15, 1850; William, January 3, 1853; James B., March 16, 1855; John M., May 21, 1857; Allen S., August 27, 1861; Charles S., August 14, 1864; and Cora, born April 20, 1868.

The farm upon which the family resides is one of the oldest and among the best improved in the county, consisting of 434 acres of land, and well cultivated. Mr. Farr died April 3, 1874, aged fifty-seven years, respected and esteemed by all who knew him.

Mr. and Mrs. Cory, the father and mother of Mrs. Farr, settled in this county in 1853. The former died in October 1873, the latter in January 1868.

Mrs. Farr and her family are in good circumstances and occupy an enviable position in society.

Cause of death: Pneumonia.
