Joseph A. Scott, 73, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Signature Healthcare in Newburgh. Joe was born on March 9, 1942 in Springfield, KY to the late W.A. and Beulah (Perkins) Scott.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Don and Paul Scott; sisters Louvaine Johnston and Ruth Homan.
Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years Linda A. (Abell) Scott of Evansville; daughters Joanne Scott Massey (Thomas) of Evansville; Susan Lattner (Patrick) of Evansville; Elizabeth Harmon (Chris) of Indianapolis; son Michael Scott of Evansville; grandchildren, Rachel Massey, Scott Massey, Elizabeth Massey, Kara Spirk (Justen), Matthew Prasek; great granddaughter Hadley Spirk; brother; John W. Scott (Pam) of Lexington KY, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy in 1965. He continued his education at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and received his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry in 1971. Joe was employed at Mead Johnson/Bristol-Myers Squibb from 1971-1995. He then taught chemistry at the University of Southern Indiana from 1999-2007.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He had many hobbies and interests including; traveling, reading, refinishing antiques, and playing volleyball. He mostly enjoyed gardening with his wife, especially in the springtime, when many visitors came to see their azalea garden.
Visitation will be Friday January 15, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm with a memorial service at 7:00 pm at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714 and continued Saturday from 9:30 to 10:00 am at the church. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 Lodge Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. -
