"Prince Koke" was likely the only one of his siblings who was eligible to the throne of Hawaii due to his sister Kaolpiolani being adopted out to the Campbell family as well as his sister Liliuokalani's only child Kekau being adopted out (& no issue).
After David Kalākaua Kawananakoa's death in 1953, there was only one remaining family of direct descendant heirs of the House of Kalākaua, these being the descendants of high chiefess Lucy Kapohaialii (Unauna-Doiron-Tam & Unauna-Alohikea-Smith).
