Sarah Jordan Meriwether died January 15, 2016.

Born in Greenville on October 9, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Louise Atkins Jordan and Dr. Fletcher Jordan.

Mrs. Meriwether graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg. In 1949, she married John Arthur (Jack) Ramseur, who passed away in 1974. In 1984, she married David Meriwether who passed away in 1998.

Mrs. Meriwether was a communicant of Christ Church Episcopal where she participated for many years as a member of the Altar Guild. She served her community as a member of the Junior Charities which is now the Junior League.

Surviving are her children, Fletcher Ramseur and wife, Angie; Thomas Ramseur, and Leland Ramseur and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Alison Wolfgang, Lee Ann Ramseur, and Melissa Ramseur; step-children Missy Thurman and husband, Glenn, Thomas Meriwether and wife, Birgit, David Meriwether, Jr. and wife, Jean; step-grandchildren, Taylor Thurman, Lindsay Thurman Mullin, Christina Cropp, Stephanie Zebrowski, Tommy Meriwether, David Meriwether, III, and Steven Meriwether; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fletcher Jordan, Jr. and E. Leland Jordan; one sister, Louise J. Earle; one son, John A. Ramseur; and one grandson, Thomas J. Ramseur.
