Died at home of her son-in-law John Delafield

Due to her husband's involvement in affairs within the area, he was forced to leave during the Rev. War. She and her children were placed under guard at their Pearl Street home. They were eventually taken as prisoners to New Jersey by the British. Their lives may have very well been saved by a group of rioting British soldiers when the house where they were being held was set afire. The very next day they were returned to New York City to their home.

After her husbands death she was able to keep the home in New York City, but summered at a farm called Petersfield which was a placed leased from the Stuyisants.
