DENMARK - David A. Punzel, 89, of Denmark, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2011.

He was born in Fort Atkinson on July 16, 1922, to the late Rudolph and Agatha (Keuer) Punzel.

He was known simply as Pa Punz to a far-flung group of friends and family.

A salesman, primarily of furniture, in his working days, he transitioned easily into retirement. He embraced his grandpa role, eagerly attending any sporting event, concert or ceremony featuring any of his grandchildren.

He savored the simple pleasures from reading a good mystery book to watching the Brewers every night and following his fantasy baseball team, bemoaning its performance to anyone who would listen, to sipping his 3 o'clock beer each afternoon.

He loved to travel in his later years, making frequent trips to California to keep up on the family there.

He is survived by his son, Dwight (Rene) Punzel of Castro Valley, Calif., his children, Dustin (Kait) Punzel, Erin, Josh and Ester Punzel, and great-granddaughter, Addison; son, Dennis (Bev) Punzel of Madison and his children, Austin and Carrie Punzel; daughter, Debbie Falzone of Alameda, Calif., and her children, Nick (Heidi Galla) Falzone, Stephanie, and Gabe Falzone; daughter, Diana (Jeff) Dreger of Manitowoc and their children, Allison (Ben) Zeitler, Kyle (Abby Breitung) Dreger, and Evan Dreger; son, Doug (Carla) Punzel of Green Bay, and their children, Zach, Mandy (Ian Roberts) and Jacob Punzel; and granddaughter, Megan (Matti Salomaki) Speckmann of San Francisco, Calif.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and daughter, Doreen Speckmann.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, at Faith Chapel, 800 High Meadow Court in Green Bay. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.

Proko-Wall Funeral Home in Green Bay is assisting the family with arrangements.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora BayCare Oncology, in particular Dr. Gautam, for all of their care and concern. Also a special thank you to the staff at Rennes Health and Rehab, and Manitowoc Health and Rehab for the care given to our father.
