Obituary for Walter Woods—Dodge City Daily Globe, Dodge City, Kansas, Dec. 11, 1990—Ulysses—Walter B. Woods, 74, of Ulysses, died Dec. 10, 1990 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ulysses.
Born July 27, 1916, at Gibtown, Texas, the son of Thomas Tapscott and Betty Hayes Woods, he married Louise Parks on Jan. 2, 1952 at Plainview, Texas. He was a custom harvester and owner /operator of Woods Sand and Gravel, Ulysses.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, Jean, Texas.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Pete, Ulysses, two daughters, Patsy Crowe, Fort Worth, Texas, Lynda Edmonson, McDade, Texas; a stepdaughter, Wilma Handley, Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Floyd Woods, Plainview, Texas, and Lindsey Woods, Conroe, Texas; eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p. m. Thursday at Phillips Chapel, Ulysses, the Rev. Bill Harrold officiating. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call until 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Mortuary, Ulysses. The family suggests memorials to the Gordon L. Woods Leadership Scholarship at the University of Kansas in care of the mortuary.
