Mr. James “Jim” Sherman Barnes age 61 of Christo Ct., Blairsville passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 following an extended illness. Jim was born on June 12, 1954 in Norton, KS, the son of the late Billy Sherman Barnes. Jim loved collecting model trains and model cars and emergency light bars. Before moving to Blairsville he had been employed with the Smyrna, GA Rescue for several years and then worked at Towns County EMS for over twenty years. He was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle. Jim was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving Jim are his loving wife and best friend of Blairsville; his mother, of Douglasville, GA; one sister, of Jacksonville, FL; nephew; niece; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel. The following gentleman served as pallbearers: his fellow employees of Towns County EMS. Serving as honorary pallbearers were fellow employees of Towns and Union Counties EMS. Interment followed in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family met with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 3:30-9 p.m.
