Ted Wesley Estep, Sr., 76, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully Monday, January 18, 2016.

Ted was born on May 2, 1939 in Star City, W.Va., he was the son of the late Elza "Bud" Wesley Estep and Margaret Lantz Estep.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Clark Estep; a grandson, Dylan Craig Brewer; and brothers-in-law, James "Buzzy" Dawson, and Larry "Joe" Clark.

Ted was retired from Mead Corp. (Rock-Tenn Co.) with over 40 years of service. He was a member of Timberlake Christian Church and Masonic Lodge # 39. He was an avid aviator spending many years as a private pilot flight instructor and later years as a FAA Pilot Examiner. He enjoyed playing the guitar and always had a song to sing and a joke to share.

He is survived by his three children, Cathy Estep Brewer and her husband, Craig, of Lynchburg, Ted Wesley Estep, Jr. of Roanoke, and Julie Estep Loving and her husband, Craig, of Forest; four grandchildren, Blake Brewer and his wife, Heather, Colby Brewer, Laken Loving, and Landon Loving; great grandchild, Declan Brewer; three sisters, Pat Dawson, Linda Miles and her husband, Don, and Bobbie Belcher and her husband, Doug; a sister in law, Barbara Clark; and a special friend, Carol McLoughlin.

The family will receive friends at Duiguid Waterlick Chapel on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 6 until 8 p.m.

A celebration of Ted's life will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Timberlake Christian Church, 20261 Lynchburg Highway by Pastor Robert Mooty.

Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
