Stephen Egnatz Mokowich, son of Ignatz and Magdeliena Stankiewicz Mokowich, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Christmas Day, 1912. He was the oldest of three children. His siblings were Sonia S. Mokowich Keeler (1914-2002) and Alexander (1918-?) He married Kathleen Theresa Croke in Dalton, Massachusetts, on 23 April, 1932.He is the father of Jo Anne Mokowich Arndt, and Sonia Mokowich Romano. He left his wife when his daughters were in their early teens, and fathered five other children with a woman he met at work in Schenectady, named Sophie Kiriluk. He died in 1966, at the age of 53.
