John J. Hartman
John J. Hartman, 97, formerly of 2404 Brown Ave., died Saturday at the Bloomington Convalescent Center.
Born Feb. 15, 1889, in Bloomington, he was the son of Jacob and Catherine (Stewart) Hartman. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Ellettsville. He retired in 1961 from New Your Railroad in Indianapolis.
Survivors include four daughters, Hazel Hamm, Marie Hedrick, and Jean Chandler, all of Bloomington, and Helen Fox of Speedway; three sons, Bernard Hartman and Robert Hartman, both of Bloomington, and Raymond Hartman of Indianapolis; two brothers, Dewey Hartman and Charles Lamb, both of Bloomington; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie (Polley) Hartman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Day Mortuary, Bro. Johnie Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may call 5-9 p.m. today and 2-9 p.m. Monday at Day Mortuary.

Note: Both the obituary for John Hartman and the obituary for Goldie (Polley) Hartman say that Hazel (Hartman) Hamm was their daughter. However, the obituary for Hazel (Hartman) Hamm says that she was the daughter of Jacob and Catherine (Stuart) Hartman and the sister of John Hartman.
