"Avova - Edward B. Salyerds, 73, owner and operator of the Avoca Manufacturing Company, died early Monday. June 10, following a two weeks' illness. He was born in Preston, Can. March 3, 1862, where most of his life was spent. He came to Avoca seven years ago and purchased the Avoca Manufacturing Company, adding the manufacture of hockey sticks.

He is survived by the widow, formerly Miss Mary Lang, two sons, Edward Salyerds of Preston, Courtland J. Salyerds of this place, six grandchildren and one great grandson. A service was conducted at the home at 7 p. m., Monday, by the Rev. Samuel R. McKinstry, and early Tuesday the body was taken to the home of his son at Preston where the funeral will be held Thursday. Burial will be made in that place."
