Charles Russell Brewer, 83, retired from Cooper Tire Rubber Company, died January 20, 2016 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. Visitation is Saturday January 23, 2016, 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at Riverside Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Riverside Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Brewer was a member of the U.S. Marines. He was a former Union President at Cooper Tire Rubber Company. In 2003 he was Clarksdale Press Register Father of the Year. He enjoyed playing mens softball and basketball. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife of 55 years Peggy Reynolds Brewer of Batesville, MS; son Charles Wayne Brewer of Batesville, MS; daughters Lisa Kornegay (Donny) of Sumner, MS and Leslie Gammill (Brett) of Batesville, MS; brothers Curtis Brewer (Doxie) of Senatobia, MS and Montie Ray Brewer of Clarksdale, MS; sister Mary Bell Frazier (Lawrence) of Marks, MS; grandchildren Adrian Tuttle, Lauren Cook, Parker Hurst and Harley Brewer.
He was preceded in death by his parents A.P. and Ninner Hudspeth Brewer.
