Born on Monday, April 19, 1937 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Thelma Donsen Altland. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elano McCrobie and Mary Bange; and two brothers, Robert and Ramon Altland. Mr. Altland was a 1955 graduate of Eichelberger High School and owner and operated Altland’s Cabinet Shop for 48 years. He was a member of Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in Hanover.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nancy Fisher Altland; four children, Roschelle Ritz and her husband, Randy, of Spring Grove, Corinna Smith and her husband, Alan, of York, Abigail Nace and her husband, John, of Spring Grove, and Richard E. Altland, Jr., and his wife, Karen, of Marianna, PA; seven grandchildren, Jason, Michael and James Ritz, Justin and Chad Nace, Thomas Smith, and Brittany Altland; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Kendal Ritz; two step-grandchildren, Aaron and Chasity Uttley; and adopted family members, Todd Eichelberger and his family.
Following a funeral at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church with The Rev. David L. DeLong officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery.
