There passed peacefully away at the home of her son at Wapella, Sask., on Thursday of last week, Mary D., relict of the late Adam Switzer, at the advanced age of eighty-one years. She was born in Ireland, but came to Canada with her parents when a young girl, settling in Ontario, near Toronto, but later moved to the western part of that province. Sixteen years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Switzer came out to Wetaskiwin and settled in the Cherry Grove district, but unfortunately, about a year later Mr. Switzer was called to the great beyond. Deceased then went to live with her son, Allan, near Wapella, where she has since resided.
The late Mrs. Switzer was very well known by the early settlers in the district, as she made a host of friends wherever she went. She was a life-long Methodist, and in her youthful days was very active and energetic in church work. She is survived by a family of three daughters and five sons, namely: Mrs. A. Doupe of Cherry Grove district; Mrs. Adam Doupe, Kirkton, Ont.; Mrs. Randolph Rideout, Mt. Pleasant, N.S.; John in Manitoba; Allan and Robert in Saskatchewan; and Reuben C. and Ernest, Wetaskiwin.
The funeral took place from the residence of her son, Reuben on Monday afternoon, service being conducted at the home and graveside by Revs. M. L. Wright and C. E. A. Pocock. The remains were laid away in the family plot in the Wetaskiwin cemetery beside those of her husband, who predeceased her fifteen years ago.
