Life Legacy
On the morning of January 23, 2016 Hazel Trula Carter Beckett, 87 of Newnan, GA, a former resident of Princeton, passed from earth into the loving arms of the Lord where he welcomed her into Heaven and reunited her with her beloved husband Bill and with family and friends who had entered there before her. Hazel was born February 22, 1928 in Pardee, VA, one of nine children, to the late Robert Hershel Carter and Mary Elizabeth Gilbert Carter. During her youth, Hazel lived with family and attended schools in McDowell County graduating from Northfork High School. Following her marriage to Bill in 1947, they moved to Princeton where they settled, worked and raised their sons. Hazel worked in banking for many years retiring from First Community Bank formerly Princeton Bank & Trust. After her husband’s death in 2008 she moved to Peachtree City, GA and later to Newnan, GA. Even though physically unable to attend, she retained her family’s lifelong affiliation with Burke Memorial Baptist Church in Princeton. Hazel was dearly loved by her family and friends who miss her greatly. She is survived by two sons, Billy Beckett and wife Michelle of Peachtree City, GA and Gregg Beckett and wife Ellen of Princeton; five grandchildren, Ryan and Adam of Chattanooga, TN, Evan of Peachtree City, GA, Morgan and wife Bryana of Cool Ridge, WV, Kara King and husband Bobby of Princeton; five great grandchildren, Bridgette of Sandy Springs, GA, Bethanie of Peachtree City, GA, Quinn of Chattanooga, TN, Lucas of Princeton, and Evelyn of Cool Ridge, WV; one sister, Mildred Milam of Ocala, FL; former daughter-in-law, Donna Beckett; many nieces, and nephews; and many friends and special caregivers and staff at the Benton House in Newnan, GA and Gentiva Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Kevin Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
