Mrs. William E. Hodgson, 99, died at 9 am Saturday at the Pavilion of Highland Pak, 50 Pleasant Ave., Highwood, IL, just 5 days before her 100th birthday. She was A. TeMoy Dunbar, born Aug. 14, 1880, daughter of Amos and Adeline S. Dunbar.
On Oct. 21, 1903, in Manhattan, NY, she married William E. Hodgson, who preceded her in death.
She spent most of her life in Franklin, was active in Galloway United Methodist Church, and other community affairs, and will be remembered as a talented musician. The past ten years she lived with her son, William Harold Hodgson of Highland Park, IL, who survives, with 3 grandchildren, Louise Ann Hodgson of San Rafael, CA, Mrs. Ben (Sharon Nygrens of Palatine, IL, and William Harold Hodgson; 5 great-grandchildren; relatives in Franklin are Miss Analena Hodgson of Grandview Convalescent Home, Mrs. J. Robert (Grace Sanford) Burns of 1340 Buffalo St., and Mrs. Kenneth H. (Margaret) Messer of 1413 Buffalo Street. Deceased are her husband; a daughter, Alma Hodgson Battles; and a son, George Dunbar Hodgson.
Her surviving son will be remembered locally as the composer of the song, "Music Goes Round and Round," when he was a student at Pennsylvania State University, and played in the Blue Band there.
Remains will be cremated and shipped to Franklin Cemetery, to be buried in the family plot. Services will be later.
