Helen Rosetta Abbott, 96, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Genesis Senior Center where she lived the past few months of her life. A private family burial will take place at Resthaven Mausoleum in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Helen was born December 14, 1919 in Crawfordsville, Iowa the daughter of William and Gertrude Bain. She was a Christian mother and homemaker who loved cooking, bird watching and sewing.

She is survived her son, Larry ( Mary) Abbott of Des Moines; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Arnold of West Burlington, Iowa; and a very dear friend, Andy Reyes of Fort Madison, Iowa. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Rex; daughter, Jane Russell; and eight brothers and sisters.

The Abbott family would like to thank the staff of Genesis Senior Center and St. Croix Hospice for the love and care they gave to Helen and shared with the family.
