JOHN D. McINNES, Sr.
He Was the First Dealer Here for the Cadillac Car.
John D. McInnes, sr., 85, a former resident of Kansas City died yesterday at his home in Topeka. Mr. McInnes moved here from Topeka in 1890 and returned there eight years ago.
He was the firs dealer in Kansas City for the Cadillac motor car, his son, Jack, recalled, and was succeeded in the agency in 1908 by Robert C. Greenlease, who still holds the franchise for the car dealership. Jack D. McInnes, jr., is manager of the agency here of the Kansas City Life Insurance company.
For many years Mr. McInnes was commercial freight agent here for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western railroad. He retired about twenty years ago. Before moving to Kansas City he was a ticket agent in Topeka for the Santa Fe.
Mr. McInnes was born in Buffalo, N. Y., and moved with his parents to Blue Rapids, Kas., in 1869. In 1890, he married the former Miss Fannie Nece of Topeka, who survives.
Surviving also is another son, Chester D. McInnes, Los Angeles, and a daughter, Mrs. Helen M. Tirrill, 4600 Jefferson street.
Services will be held Tuesday in Topeka. Graveside services and burial will be held in Mt. Moriah cemetery. The family requests no flowers be sent.
