UNION, S.C. - Curtis Cecil Smith, Sr., 75, husband of Virginia Reid Smith, of 726 North Duncan By-Pass, Union, died Thursday, February 12, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Born in Union, S.C., on October 10, 1928, he was a son of the late Browning Smith and Lillian Smith Smith. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Torrington Company.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kathy Garrison of Woodruff; three sons and daughters-in-law, Reid and Judy Smith of Columbia, Curtis Smith II of Union, and Maxie and Betty Smith of Union; a sister, Addie Mae Lawson of Buffalo; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

The body will remain at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends, Friday night from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home, 726 North Duncan By-Pass, Union .

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Surgical ICU Staff at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
