Dewitte C. Rutland, 87, of the Friendship community died April 4, 2005, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, and 10 a.m. Thursday until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. LaVerne Summerlin will officiate. Burial will be in Reeves Cemetery.

Mr. Rutland was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Pike County. He was the son of Clinton B. Rutland and Rosa Boyd Rutland. He was a retired salesman and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Rutland was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Inez Andrews, Lexie R. Felder and Irma Felder.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Vivian Brewer Reeves Rutland of Friendship; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelia and Murray Moore of Austin, Texas, and Connie and Jimmy Tullos of Braxton, Texas; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Linda and Morris Albers of LaGrange, Texas, and Terri and Charles Carter of Hattiesburg; one stepson and his wife, Don and Susan Reeves of Beaumont, Texas; two grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Walker, Murray Moore, Johnny White, Kenny White, Charles Carter and Matthew Glick.
