In memory of Myrtle Jeanette Lorch
10/03/1943 - 01/27/2016

On the 27th of January 2016, Jeanette Lorch's presence was requested for a final dance by her late husband, Bob Lorch who crossed almost 21 years earlier.

A lifelong Baptist, she was raised in Birmingham Alabama, the youngest of 3 siblings.

Her older brothers, Eddie White and Ben White, are still living. She has 3 daughters, Myra (Robert) Poole, Daisy (Bob) Hunter & Roberta (Michael) Martin. She also has 7 grandchildren, they are DJ Stone, Steven Hayes, Noah Martin, Jonah Martin, Harry Poole, Micah Martin and Maddie Martin and 2 great grandchildren, Alesha Stone & Steven R Hayes, Jr, and many beloved nieces & nephews.

She attended and graduated from the Alabama School of the Deaf in Tuscaloosa then attended Gallaudet University where she met the love of her life, Bob Lorch. After Bob graduated from Gallaudet, the newlyweds moved to Georgia where Bob got a job at the Atlanta Journal Constitution as a typesetter and Jeanette got a job with J C Penney. Once they moved to Georgia both Bob & Jeanette became heavily involved in the deaf community. During this time Jeanette realized that deaf community needed an advocate for the specialized needs of the community. She started her lifelong association with the Georgia Council for the Hearing Impaired (GACHI). They honored her lifetime work by naming one of their conference rooms the "Jeanette Lorch" room.

She started several advocate groups for the deaf community including "Silent Fingers" and the Deaf Seniors of Georgia (DSG) of which she was standing president. She was a lifelong member and past president of the Georgia Association of the Deaf (GAD). Jeanette Lorch was widely loved and respected by the deaf community for her tireless work on their behalf. Anybody who met Jeanette Lorch remembers her, from both the deaf and hearin g worlds. Her outgoing, positive, cheerful personality made her a person whom everybody loved. Jeanette loved spending time with her deaf friends traveling all over the world playing cards and traveling to interesting places rich with beauty and history and she loved spending time with her family.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Silent Fingers", Deaf Seniors of Georgia or Crusselle Freeman Church of the Deaf.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 12:00PM, at Tara Baptist Church in Jonesboro, with Pastor Ron Little and Pastor Frank Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM - 12:00PM at the church prior to the service.
