Leonard Miller "Dick" Anderson, 63, of Westwego, La., and a Rowan County native, died 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He had entered the hospital for corrective heart surgery.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Summersett Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Lawrence Bollinger, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. Luke's church cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday night from 7 to 9.

Born Jan. 23, 1919, he was a son of the late M. M. and Nannie London Anderson. He was retired and has served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Michael C. Anderson of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Marshall Anderson of Mt. Ulla and Grady Anderson of Douglasville, Ga.

Five sisters, Mrs. Ethel Ervin of Mt. Ulla, Mrs. Edith Shulenburger and Mrs. Kathleen White, both of Salisbury, Mrs. Martha Graham of Mooresville, and Mrs. Margaret Brown of Portsmouth, Va.; and two grandchildren.
