Joe enlisted in the Army in 1951, serving two full years in the Korean War, and another 20 years in Army Reserves. He was proud to be a soldier. He retired from Herrmann Lumber of Springfield after 42 years as yard foreman.
Joe leaves behind three sons and their wives, Ed and Christine, Tim and Lila, Mark and Barbara, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, whom they called Poppy Joe. He is survived by two brothers and one sister, Bob, Roger, and Nancy.
Joe enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, target shooting, and making ammunition.
Graveside service in Fordland Cemetery.
