Verona>> Kevin D. Austin, 56, of 7060 Lock Road, Rome, N.Y. (formerly of Pondhill, P.A.), passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016.
Kevin was born on Jan. 10, 1960, in Nanticoke, P.A., the son of Darrell and Cynthia (Ogan) Austin.
Kevin married his soulmate and best friend, Patricia A. Stratton on Oct. 13, 2014, in Durhamville.
He lived in Pondhill most of his life, graduating from John S. Fine High School. In his younger years, during the summers, Kevin helped his Uncle Drue on Chapin's farm in P.A.
Kevin was most recently employed by CT Express in Durhamville, as a diesel tech, where he was considered "family".
Kevin and his wife, Patricia, shared a huge passion for snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and car shows. Kevin established an unbreakable bond with his step-son, Danny. Kevin took part in every aspect of Danny's life, from schoolwork to teaching him how to play the saxophone, showing him the skills to be a great fisherman, and giving him the knowledge of learning how to drive his own snowmobile at the age of 6. Kevin and Danny's relationship defined the true meaning of unconditional love.
Surviving besides his wife, Patricia, at home are: his parents, Darrell and Cynthia Austin of Wapwallopen, P.A.; step-son, Danny; mother-in-law, Christine Seitz and Bill Elia of Canastota; father-in-law, George Stratton, Jr. and Paula of Oneida; sister, Shari and Tom Rodino of Nescopeck, P.A.; sisters-in-law, Sue and Joe Cosimeno of Rome, and Patience Seitz of Canastota; his adored nieces, Molly, Mattison, Brooklyn, and Paige; nephew, Joey; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kevin, also, leaves behind his four legged best friend "Boomer". A special thank you to Kevin's closest friends, Tim (Calvin) James, Deb Johnson, and Bob Malone. Kevin was predeceased by a special uncle, John "Jack" Cragle.
