Charlena Edmondson Midkiff, age 88, died January 29, 2016. She was the wife of the late J. T. Midkiff.

Born on April 7, 1927, in Carrollton, Arkansas, Mrs. Midkiff was the daughter of the late James Quincy and Iva Jones Edmondson, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge, where she taught a Ladies Sunday School class and held other positions of responsibility. She was a retired public school teacher. Mrs. Midkiff attended Ouachita Baptist University and later graduated from Arkansas State University.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant sons, John Thomas and Jimmy Kemp Midkiff, a sister, Edith Moody, and a brother Lindsay.

Survivors include a sister, Aleen Cochran of California; five sons and their families: Paul and Sharon Midkiff of Little Rock, Drs. David and Sheri Midkiff of Portia, Lieutenant Colonel Stephen (ret.) and Major Deborah Midkiff (ret.) of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Phillip and Diane Midkiff of Hoxie, and Daniel and Ann Midkiff of Benham, Kentucky. Grandchildren include Johnny and Chrissy, Bobby and Abby, Joseph, Brandt and Shannon, Bill, Sam and Brooke, Dr. Paul Andrew and Julie, Scott and Lori, and Charlie Midkiff and Larry Green. Great-grandchildren are Sam, Katie, Kayla, Ethan, Noah, Andrew, Grady, Clementine, Madelyn, Emma, and Evan Midkiff.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
