Funeral for Alvin A. Eustis of Berkeley, former long-time resident of Stinson Beach, will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at McNary Mortuary, Berkeley. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery Oakland.
Eustis, 77, died Saturday in an Oakland hospital after a four month illness.
A native of Beloit, Wisconsin, he was a weekend resident of Stinson Beach from the 1930's to 1956, when he moved to the community for seven years. In 1963,he and his wife, Blanche moved to Berkeley, but until last March continued to visit Stinson Beach frequently.
Eustis retired in 1957 after teaching physical education for 38 years, the last 11 in Oakland.
He was a past chairman of the Stinson Beach Community Center board and a past president of the center,a past president of the Stinson Beach Progressive Club, and helped build the Stinson Beach Community Chapel in the early 1960's. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge No. 42, Free and Accepted Masons, Cheney, Wash., and a member of the National Retired Teachers Association.
He also is survived by two sons, Alvin A. Eustis Jr. of Berkeley and William H. Eustis of Yakima, Wash., a sister, Mrs. Byrde Pribnow of Hayward, Wis., and two grandchildren. He and his wife celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 1.
